A Homecoming for a Champion
Few names in golf carry the connection to New Mexico that Notah Begay does. An Albuquerque native, four-time PGA Tour winner, and former New Mexico Open Champion, Begay has inspired generations of professional golfers as both a competitor and a respected analyst for NBC Sports and Golf Channel. Now, he’s returning to the very stage where his career first took root.
“It’s always special to come home and compete in New Mexico, where my journey in golf truly began,” said Begay. “I’m honored to be part of the New Mexico Open again, and I look forward to sharing this stage with such a talented field of players.”
A World-Class Field
Begay won’t be alone. This year’s New Mexico Open features a powerhouse lineup, including:
- Matt Every, two-time PGA Tour winner and ESPN/Golf Channel analyst.
- A.J. Crouch, Korn Ferry Tour professional and podcast host.
- Todd Demsey, former PGA Tour player and NCAA Division I individual champion.
- Brandon Mancheno, rising PGA Tour Americas talent with international experience.
Together, they represent one of the strongest fields in the tournament’s history—elevating the New Mexico Open to new national attention.
Watch It Live, Wherever You Are
For the first time, fans can enjoy six hours of daily coverage through a Facebook Live broadcast. The multi-camera production will feature on-course action, player interviews, behind-the-scenes moments, and highlight reels.
Even better: Begay and Every will step into the booth to co-host segments, adding insider commentary and personality to the broadcast.
A Vision for Turtleback

The excitement around this year’s Open goes beyond the leaderboard. For James Prendamano, Co-Founder & CEO of PreReal Investments and Co-Owner of Turtleback Mountain Golf Investments, hosting the New Mexico Open is part of a larger vision.
“Our goal at Turtleback Mountain Golf & Resort has always been to create more than just a championship venue, we want to build a place that reflects the beauty, culture, and community of Southern New Mexico,” said Prendamano. “Hosting the New Mexico Open for the next three years is another step in realizing that vision, and we’re humbled by the opportunity to grow Turtleback into one of the premier golf destinations in the Southwest.”
Golf That Gives Back
Beyond the competition, the New Mexico Open plays an important role in the community. In partnership with the Sun Country PGA Section, proceeds from the tournament’s Pro-Am directly support youth golf programs, military families, and inclusion initiatives throughout the region.
As Cory Armstrong, Executive Director of Sun Country Golf House, explained: “The Pro-Am provides funding that allows us to grow programs benefiting youth, military families, and inclusion across our region. By showcasing both the championship and the Pro-Am, we highlight the power of this partnership while ensuring the New Mexico Open continues to deliver meaningful benefits to the communities we serve.”

Turtleback: A Destination on the Rise
Hosting the New Mexico Open is more than just a tournament milestone—it’s part of Turtleback Mountain Golf & Resort’s vision to become the premier golf and lifestyle destination in the Southwest.
Nestled in the Rio Grande Valley, Turtleback offers an 18-hole championship course with breathtaking desert views, and is expanding with 1,300 planned home sites, a driving range, pickleball and tennis courts, a spa, a fitness center, and a tranquility garden.
